How Does A Tooth Hurt, When It's Gone?

I know we got some dental discussion going on. I'm too much a chicken, to run around with a root missing, and no cap. Our state don't pay for those, so I just went and had it pulled. Good thing, because, the surrounding flesh was really bad. I can feel where they took more than my tooth. Right, you got the story. But, as Paul Harvey would say, forgive me for any misspellings, were he still with the breathing: "And now, for the r'r'r'rest of the story."
Anyway, It's gone, and as the topic title implies, I still feel it. Now, I've had seven other teeth pulled, and nothing like this has "ever," happened before. I don't know whether to call the men in white coats, or just scream in fear, or faint. I'll be typing an email, on The Zone, or somewhere else, and my "tooth," that is in someone's trash bin, unless the sixty percent filling can be reused, starts to hurt like heck. Does anyone know of this happening, and why? Am I crazy?
Before you guys start getting silly, you can be smart with me in quicknotes. I know I'm: "Not playing with a full deck," LOL or whatever. But, it's really strange to wake up, and have a tooth ache, and look... Wait? It's not there?.
That's kind of how my brain goes "WTH".
Anyway, any good answers will help. Thank you, if you have a good thought. If not, I'll thank you later. LOL
Blessings,

Well, how long ago was the tooth pulled? If the area around it was effected, as I think you said it was, you may still be healing, or there may still be damage to that surrounding area that should be looked at. If neither of those are the case, perhaps it's an issue of phantom pain? I've heard that even if someone is missing an arm, hand, or leg, sometimes they'll still feel pain in that missing limb. Maybe that can happen in the mouth, too? If that's the case, I don't know as there's much you can do about it, but I'm not sure. Maybe google phantom pain, and see if there's anything that can be done.

It's your nerve in the gum. That's not been removed. And if you had "bad flesh" as you call it, surrounding the tooth, then of course your nerves in that area of your gums are damaged.

I think. But, I feel for it, like it's still there. That's the odd thing.
And Alicia, I think you might be right. But, what really fries my senses, is I had seven teeth pulled before this lovely nightmare went away. Why only 1 tooth? Maybe, I'm just to curious. But, I'm weird like that. It's just so Disconcerting, more than painful. That's the strainge part. Like I can't explain it.

Thanks guys and gals. I will find out, when I see her. Ironically? I wasn't even her patient. So,I suppose I'll research it. Also, there's Safari, and google's my friend.
Should I learn anything, I'll tell you. The other thing is, my brrain's been boncked around, so it could be anything. At least, I know who to ask, and I will.
Blessings!
